The Jazz Age

A distinctly American art form, jazz emerged from the diverse melting pot of New Orleans and became an international sensation. The first musical genre to benefit from mass communications, its syncopated rhythms spread from saloons and dancehalls to infectious mainstream popularity around the world via recordings and radio. Join one of the premier musicians and leading authorities of traditional jazz as he discusses and demonstrates the distinctive sounds of ragtime and early American jazz at a concert grand piano.
