Session 1: Take a paper and pencil exam given by a proctor on the verbal and quantitative sections and receive course materials. Bring calculator to this session. The proctored exam provides an opportunity to experience the type of questions found on the exam. This also will help you determine your readiness for the actual exam, and pinpoint those areas on which you should focus your study. Instructor led classes begin week two. This class session meets for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Session 2: Learn about basic parts of the test and review the organizational process and strategies for writing the required issues and argument essays. Receive a timed writing assignment to help prepare for essay writing; this practice essay must be e-mailed to the instructor in order to receive formative comments via return e-mail.
Session 3: Master reading comprehension, vocabulary, antonyms, analogies, and sentence completion.
Session 4: Review how to manipulate and apply concepts in arithmetic, algebra and geometry problems. Learn how to solve complicated application problems by looking for shortcuts and avoiding conceptual errors. Learn how to use picture math to significantly reduce anxiety and lessen the time spent finding a solution to complex problems.
Session 5: Take a timed quiz that will be reviewed in class and used as a guide for quantitative problem solving strategies. Work with the interactions between multiple types of graph problems. Have the opportunity for one-on-one and small group discussion of strategies and difficult problem solutions.
