One Health Approaches to Food Policy and Action
The annual One Health Partnerships Workshop brings together a broad range of academic, industry and government partners to discuss issues and opportunities at the interface of animal health, human health, and the environment. The goal of the meeting is to foster new public-private partnerships and develop interdisciplinary strategies for moving the One Health agenda forward. This year the 2012 One Health Partnerships Workshop will explore food safety, obesity, organic foods, rural economies, antibiotics and agriculture.
The one day meeting includes panel discussions and small work-group sessions which revolve around different topics related to "One Health". A request for proposal for "One Health" seed grant funding will also be announced.
The Global "One Health" seed grants catalyze new partnerships focused on the increasingly complex dilemmas at the convergence of animals, humans and the environment. These grants are intended to provide start-up money for new public-private-academic partnerships, recognizing the synergy that comes from trans-disciplinary approaches to bridging multiple sectors of society. The intent is to fund innovative proposals that demonstrate new collaborations with significant potential for addressing global "One Health" challenges through research, education or outreach.
